Our house is an original stone farm-house, completely reconstructed in 1992. You will enter the house via the hall or lounge and be escorted to your room, either up a short open staircase or along a passage on the ground floor. The Sierra 'Aga is a nearby mountain range where a major road takes you over the mountain from Covas to Caminha and beyond. This route is ideal for bird-watching and walking and there is an information center and a beautiful picnic area on route. Slightly further afield is the beautiful Peneda-Geres National Park.
The Rio Coura runs from Paredes de Coura into the estuary at Caminha, where it meets the Rio Minho. Both rivers contain trout. Canoing and kayaking are also available on the Rio Minho by a personal link with Galician Adventures in Spain. (They can also arrange horse-riding).
In Valença, Viana de Costelo, Ponte de Lima and other nearby towns there are plenty of opportunities for sightseeing and shopping. You might even catch one of the many spectacular fiestas. Most restaurantes offer local cuisine and some specialise in sea-food. Ponte de Lima has one of several good golf courses in the area. It is 33 k from The English House. Discounts can be obtained with our card. Close by to Ponte de Lima there is also a lake area designated to conservation of birds and wild-life where designated walks are laid out and cycles can be hired.
At the nearest beach at Caminha, 10 km. away, and all along the rugged Atlantic coast line to Viano do Castelo, you will find wide uncrowded

From: PORTO AIRPORT (Ryanair fly from Stanstead and Easyjet from Gatwick)
or by ferry to Santander or Bilboa from Portsmouth or Plymouth.
On leaving the airport follow the BLUE SIGNS for Braga/Valença (A3). Keep in the right-hand lane until you reach the toll booths. On entering the toll, make sure you take a ticket or you will be charged for the full motorway!!…DO NOT ENTER THE LANE WITH THE GREEN AND WHITE V BRISA SIGN (this is for electronic ticket holders only). Continue to the Vila Nova de Cerveira Intersection No.13. (approx. 90 km).

Property Description
LOCATION: The property is one hour's drive from Porto airport, just 4km from the A3 motorway. The village has a small general store and café and church and the riverside town of Vila Nova de Cerveira is 6km. further down the hill, with Valença 12km. in the other direction. The nearest coastal beach is a further 20mins. away and Ponte de Lima golf course and equestrian centre is 20 minutes away.
PROPERTY DETAILS
Charmingly reconstructed in 1992 in the village of Candemil, V.N. Cerveira in the Costa Verde region of Northern Portugal the house is set in approx. 1 acre of ground. The house has recently been fitted with gas-fired central heating and solar hot water system. The house is on mains water and electricity. It has telephone and ADSL connection, TV satelite dishes and smoke-alarm.
Situated on the partially covered patio is a secluded 11m x 6m swimming pool (1m>2.5m deep) and BBQ. At the side of the house is a car park for 5/6 cars and landscaped garden. From here you can reach the 2200 m2 of orchard with various fruit trees.

The house has five bedrooms for letting and can sleep 10 guests. It has a TV lounge with a small bar. You can breakfast either in the small dining-room or on the patio, next to the pool. All rooms are fitted with wardrobes, dressing-tables and a chest of drawers.
Electric fans and tea and coffee facilities are provided in each room.
We charge on a per room per night basis.
We have a choice of five rooms as follows:
The Family Room, with one double and one single bed and ensuite - Price £50 per night May-September and Christmas to New Year,£35 per night October-April, excluding Christmas to New Year.
Double Room, with shower ensuite, downstairs - Price £45 per night May-September and Christmas to New Year,£30 per night October-April, excluding Christmas to New Year.
Single Room, upstairs, with separate bathroom shared with Twin Room - Price £25 per night May-September and Christmas to New Year, £15 per night October-April, excluding Christmas to New Year.
Twin Rooms (2), either upstairs or downstairs, with separate shared bathrooms - Price £42 per night May-September and Christmas to New Year, £28 per night October-April, excluding Christmas to New Year.
A continental style breakfast is included in the price and tea and coffee facilities are available in your room free of charge.
The dining-table in the Breakfast room sits eight people but the majority of guests prefer to breakfast on the patio. There is a cupboard full of board games for your use if you really do want to stay in and play games.
We provide guide books and tourist information and an extensive library of books for you to borrow during your stay at no extra charge.
We ask for a 25% deposit on booking with the remainder payable in cash on arrival.
We also run four and seven night golfing packages, which includes all-day golf in Spain and Portugal, evening dinner and transport at a cost of £66.50 per person per night. Details on application
